That and the fact that most Germans / French people don't talk english . They still have every English spoken show / movie dubbed for crying out loud.

Stop whining, over here in South Africa do we get mini pet giveaways? No.
Average ping?300 is heaven, never seen the thing go green, usually play with 400-500 ping and dont complain. Timewise its kinda the same here as it is in Europe and no one complains that events start at 8pm/am or whatnot.
Before saying A-net doesent care about (insert place) think, maybe theres places that get it even worse and do you hear them complaining?No...

And because what you've suggested is extremely important for me to clear up, let me respond to your comments point by point:
Quote:
Every event is based on American times, europe player will miss 8 hours of every event, with the release of Eye of the North, we in europa could play at 9.00 AM, when we where at school/work, the American player could start at 0.00AM.
|
We start most events at Noon Pacific, which is actually far more advantageous to European players, since it begins during their peak evening play hours, rather than in the middle of a work or school day for those in North America. The only exception is events timed for a specific holiday like Halloween, where we have to start it somewhere, starting it at Midnight-plus-one-minute seems very appropriate, and where we feel that starting in on "studio time" is the most fair and reasonable with a global game. No one in Europe is "cheated" out of hours -- the events run for a full 24 hours on any clock, anywhere in the world, and in a 24-hour span, everyone has certain hours that are the most popular for their playing style.
Quote:
Then not forgot the dutch players, we wanted to get a Dutch "server", Anet said NO!
|
We also said "No" to districts for many other languages. We do not want to divide the community into smaller and smaller segments. I have been petitioned for districts in Turkish, Israeli (Hebrew), Norwegian, Portuguese, Swedish, Danish, and a half-dozen other languages. We want to keep the districts as full and vibrant as we can, while still paying note to language needs. In discussions with various individuals, including those in our European office, a Dutch district is not perceived as a critical need. I am sorry that this displeases you, but I truly do not foresee that a Dutch district will be coming.
Quote:
Then the ingame store, we asked for other payments, Anet said again NO.
|
That is not accurate. We have said we will make alternative payment methods available as we were able to do so, and we are doing just that. Each setup needs approval in a particular country, and must be implemented and tested. Getting set up for this sort of thing takes a long time, and the team that works on it is also responsible for the support of many other games. Therefore, it's not a simple request to fulfill, and we can't simply "turn a switch" to offer it in an additional country. We will be adding more payment options in the near term; we will continue to add more payment options in the future, as well.
Quote:
Then its almost 31 oktober, and the Dutch and Belgian players just have bad luck, because Anet doesnt support them.
|
The teams working on this are doing the best that they can, but I do understand your frustration. Unfortunately, again, these things take a long amount of time to get into place. I have and will continue to relay the concern and the need for more options to those involved.
Quote:
Everytime we asked for something, other country's will get it, except the "Benelux" (its Luxemborg, Belgian and the Netherlands).
|
But for things like language requests for Benelux, would that be French, Dutch, Flemish, or German? For thinking specifically of Belgium, a multitude of languages are spoken within its borders -- in fact, doesn't Belgium have three "official languages?" Fortunately, in Benelux, one of the languages that is widely known is English, and two others are also supported in the game. (Switzerland is another example of this lingual diversity, and we do feel that the Swiss are also well supported with language choices.)
The bottom line is that we greatly appreciate the support of Guild Wars in Benelux. Heck, I shocked a shopkeeper in Amsterdam by asking permission to take photographs in his store, because I liked his display so well and I loved that Guild Wars Factions was proudly displayed as the #1 PC title at the time. I know you guys are great supporters of the game. (And I personally love your area of the world, so be sure I'm watching out for you. )
In the end, we will continue to expand payment choices over time and we will remain keenly sensitive to needs for language support and district partitioning within the game.

well personally i prefere events starting at 8pm gmt, as its late enough in the evening and lets me play till night grand.
whats this on england and germany able to pay in sms?
can ireland?
but you can't just get a bunch of general methods and say that anet hates you.
Americans dont have any other payment methods besides us do they?
They dont have any special districts, Europe is a vast continent, can't please everyone language wise, dialects would come in to play too i would imagine.

I'm from Quebec. I speak French every day (or borderline...). And yet, I don't ask for French d's on American servers, and I play my game in English. Why? 'cause most people DON'T speak French. Maybe 80% of the players speak English and I want to make sure I can be understood of my own team. So I had no choice to adapt. I played in French at the very beginning, but then switched to the English interface because it was much easier for me to communicate with them.
I agree, however, that it sucks when you're limited in another languages. As I've said, I speak French but I play in English. When I want to team up with French people, communicating goes really easily... until we need to make change skill bars. I fail completely; skills are translated to make sense, but I'm not so sure EVERYONE translates "Spiteful Spirit" into "Esprit Malveillant"; the need to check or describe the skill is important, and TBH, I haven't seen the other party doing it yet, so I have to check myself... and often, I don't have the skill unlocked the same char I'm playing (my main's a necro, if I play on ele and have to help in setting a necro bar in French, I'm screwed). So I make rough translations, tell someone to look for a skill which has such and such word in, tell me the description, etc. It works, but it's long. That's the only downside FOR ME to play in English with French players.
The only thing I don't like from playing this game and being in Quebec is that I can't participate in any contest that aren't in-game. It's frustrating, but I deal with it.
Oh and another thing I deal with even though it's so-so... event times, as specified earlier. 0:00am Pacific means 3am here. Thank gods the events are during the weekend x].

One thing I've been wondering for a long time: is there any reason why I'm being offered Carte Bancaire and Carte Blue in the in-game store, having never supplied an address outside of the Netherlands, nor having ever logged on from a non-Dutch IP address. Those cards are French, and as far as I'm aware, unavailable in the Netherlands.

The best would be to only focus on that new payment option, and not to spread out the team over several things. Are there more than one person working on the payment options right now?
Wait a minute!! Several teams and still nothing? Even after 1 year?

This is why most companies solve these problems, BEFORE they open their shops.
Do those involved forget the problems? Or why are you continueing to relay it?

Its not that im Frustrated about the events and stuffs, but about the payment, thats the main reason.
Its just i dont own a creditcard, i cant ask my mother to get a creditcard, because she dont want any, with some problems in the past, with a creditcard.
Everyone keeps talking about their father, but when i was four my father died, so, i can't asked him, i dont have a very good band with my other fammily members, and the rest i know don't have a creditcard.
Im still a student, so the costs of a creditcard is very expensive, if it wasnt that expensive, i did get one!
I even tried to get a Wirecard (its a digital creditcard), but they send some forms to my email, i cant awnser, because i dont have those records ... And because their main is in Germany i need to send alot of forms. So thats not an option.
And an other reason about my frustation is about PlayNC, i have asked them a month ago about the BMP, i still dont have an awnser, and the other day i logged in on the FAQ account of mine, and saw they deleted the "Question".
And the last reason why im frustrated, the BMP is (what they all say) released on the 1st of November, and that is my birthday (yes and that is not a lie ...) so what isnt better then get your self something that is released on your birthday, that you like ... =/
And Gaile if you like Amsterday, you really would like the south of the country, we have much more green there!

If it was up to me i wouldn’t make districts based on languages but on region. Like: Europe1,2,3,…, America, Asia
People should be stimulated to play with different nationalities instead of grouping up.
Its like when u go on a camping trip to France and see all the Dutch (Holland) group together, it feels like u are in Holland instead of France… I think u get my point

Nitpicking here, but technically speaking, Dutch and Flemish are the same language. Flemish is just used to point out the Dutch spoken in Belgium, which is a different dialect than "standard" Dutch (like English and Scottish/Australian).
The main reason most people in Belgium/the Netherlands are decent in speaking English is because we basically sub everything instead of dubbing it. TV teaches our children (and taught me quite a bit too ).
Anyway,

The question is, really, why wasn't this anticipated? Didn't anyone stop to think that maybe -just maybe- CCs alone in the online store would be insufficient to cater to as many people as possible? It seems really dumb to try and promote an online store by using a product where you have to spend money before a certain deadline, THEN try to increase payment options so plenty of people have access before that deadline.
You were basically screwing yourselves over here, since the deadline will probably end before most of these issues have settled, meaning people will be pissed, you'll have spent a lot of time and resources in trying to fix this on time (and most likely fail), and the online store's reputation is worse off than before since it's only occurence on fora is the lack of payment options and people complaining about it.
The only good thing that might come out of it is that due to this, the online store might still recieve the much needed update in payment options eventually, which could enable you to try another promotion like this, only much better prepared this time.

Gli he is right, with that, yesterday i needed to do a mission, and i teamed up with a swedish player, and we did the mission well, i died once, i made a silly mistake (i flagged dunk with him and forgot the unflagg him ...)
But with that french thing, alot of french people cant even talk english ... =/
So why team up with people you cant understand
Yes i do PUG's with everyone, if i team up with german people i try to speak german (mostly its that bad, that they beg me to talk english).
And with that belgian part, i know they talk French and Dutch, and then they have dialects, same as the Netherlands does, we have 12 dialects, and one of them is a real language called Frisian.
I live in Limburg so we talk Limburgs (its a mixed between German/dutch/belgian) (we dont have a english name for that dialect)
But even Belgian has a Limburg, its called Belgian Limburg (orginal )
And yes please next time when you promote something again, please make sure people can access it!
